Hi,

I am working here on L1 for the complete year but my daughter joined me during July 2009. I do not have an ITIN# for her.

1) Is there a way I can do an e-file my returns with my daughter as dependent, same time apply for her ITIN online ?

2) If point one is not possible, can I apply for her ITIN now online and get it before jan 2010 so that I can use that ITIN for e-file.

3) While filing first time along with daughter as dependent, is it mandatory to file through mail and do I need to wait till I have my federal returns ready ?

I am trying to avoid paper filing because of delays.

Thanks in Advance for your advise,

1. No
2. No
3. Best option is to attach W-7 (ITIN application) with your tax return. So wait till your federal return is ready. If your daughter will not be in the U.S. at that time, get copy of passport notarized now.

Filing electronically with an ITIN request is simply NOT an option. You WILL be filing a paper return.
