I am in the military and have been married for one year. My wife came in with bad credit and collection bills coming in the mail. She has over 5 credit card debts and some are for her and her ex boyfriend. My credit is excellent and I worked real hard to get it there. She couldn't pay her car note so I had to pay for them and my mother even paid one, because I was so stressed for cash. She had a job before we got married, but quit before finding another job. For 6 months I had to pay my bike note, insurance, her car note, rent, water, cable, and light! Since she couldn't pay her car note I decided to trade my bike in and she sold her car so we could get another car and save money. I had a car already paid off I let her drive. I was able to get a car with my credit and not hers and just my name is on the car. She had a cell phone and her dad was on her plan and she couldn't pay it because it was too much and she didn't have a job so I put her on my plan, but she still owes $600 for her old plan. I basically tried to help her out as much as I can and be a providing husband. She has trust issues and she has had them since she was a little girl, but I thought we could work on that and she could trust me, but that is the down fall of our relationship. Recently I decided to invest in my future and buy a house instead of paying rent for something I will never own. Again I got approved with just my credit, but since we were married at the time they had to put her on the title of the house.

My question is what can she actually get if she tried to fight me in court?

We have no kids.

Depending on the state you divorce in, half, including half of any asset or debt assumed while married.

I would recommend a good lawyer.
