What a guy.

A genius in many ways... sorry idiot in many others...

... imho...

Certainly a number of people call him an idiot - but I'll guess an equal number call him a genius.

No problem. If, after I die, there's an equal number of people calling me a genius vs. those calling me an idiot, then I should think my kids will be proud.

...

I don't know whether to call him an idiot or a genius, but he sure gave me a bunch of chuckles over the years.

I saw him live - trying to remember. Summer of 2006? He read his entire act from a sheet of paper. I always loved him, he was funny - but he was obviously failing.

Yes, by 2006 he was hurting in many ways... more so than the norm.

My best memories of his humor were from his LP records of the 70s.

Haha, I guess I'm showing my age... :)

Hello Rick:

I didn't know anybody called him an idiot. He was sheer comic genius as far as I was concerned. I guess if you tell it like it is, you're going to piss somebody off.

Has anybody ever reported me and called me an idiot? I hope so.

I'm probably too young to have an opinion on him but I saw him on HBO a couple times when they had his standup there.

I loved the way he talked and what talked about. It was kind of like smart humor.

It's sad that someone like that had to go.

I've always loved George Carlin's humor, he was a breath of fresh air in an era of self-righteous political correctness. I loved his book "Napalm and Silly Putty". He was also great in the animated 2006 Disney film "Cars". It's too bad him and Paul Newman won't be around to reprise their roles in next year's sequel. He will be missed.
