Did you use OEM brake shoes? If your shoes are compounded differently than what came on the car, they often will squeak and perform differently. Best to use OEM or top quality shoes; e.g. Wagner or Bendix. If the car came with organics, stay with them. Mixing and matching causes problems.
Ensure brake shoes are not dragging. Remember, brake fluid should be completely changed every 2 years. If you don't, wheel cylinders can cause major problems.
