I recently remodeled my kitchen and I am thinking of installing the old cabinets (7 years old, Maple, great condition) in my unfinished basement. The area I am planning on installing is an L with one wall being concrete foundation, below grade, and one wall above grade, stud but no sheetrock.

I am considering two options – 1. Just hanging the cabinets or finishing the area and hanging the cabinets. If I just hang the cabinets, what is the best way to attach the cabinets on the concrete wall? Can I secure them to the concrete or would I attach some 2x4’s to the wall and hang the cabinets from the 2x4s? Either way, can I secure the cabinets or 2x4s to the concrete with adhesive, or ramset nails, or?? I am wondering how I maintain the integrity of the foundation.

I have no plans to finish the basement currently but it would be a nice area to finish at some point.
Thanks

You can use a nail gun like a Remington or drill and use Tapcons but I'd stud out the wall, vapor barrier, insulate then drywall. Do it right, do it once.

Agree with B1; I did this as part of my basement refinish, My poured concrete foundation wall was not exactly plumb (or smooth) It would have been a nightmare to try and hang cabinets on that wall and create the "L". Framing out allows you to correct any issues with plumb and you get the benefit of insulation as well. Remember to use treated stock for the bottom plate when you frame your wall if it sets on the slab...
