Ugh, the other day I went to the doctor and they said that I have a sinus infection. I went on Friday. And my mom still hasn't picked up my medicine. Do any of you have any home remandies?

Try this... there is a pressure point between your eyebrows, apply pressure with your index finger, and do gently massage...

On either side of your nose just below the eye socket, there are also two pressure points... again apply gentle pressure... you will feel a pop after a few minutes.. it should help relieve some pressure in the sinus area.

When I had a sinus infection recently, my dr recommended using a netty pot. It's kind of weird, and took some getting used to. But I found it to be very helpful. That and either a good humidifier or a nice steamy shower.

OK, this is very very painful and irritating but once you are through, it feels great. Frankly, it takes 2 days to get over it and also feels like a nightmare when you do it. Here I go.

Dilute as much salt in 4 tablespoon water. Lie down and pour 2-4 drops into each nostrils. Then starts the nightmare...

Many will comment against it, I am sure. My dad had sinus, tablets didn't work. An Ayurveda doctor suggested this and it worked wonders, though we had to bear his anger those 2 days.

P.S.- make sure it is sinus and not migraine. If you have migraine, this is nothing less than hell.

Also, can someone suggest home remedies for migraine..?

Since the dr said it's a sinus infection, I'd bet that it is a sinus issue. I'm trying to understand how that could possibly help?? Why not just use saline spray or a netty pot to flush the sinuses? Why turn it into something painful?

gottolovemydogs asked for a home remedy and hence I recommended it. Doctors will suggest medicines and I am no doctor.
This is a one time pain. It gets cleared permanently to many. I don't know if it is true, but a few of my friends said their sinus was cleared after a few visits to the beach. The sea water is VERY salty here.

What happens when you dive into water? SOMETIMES in case of starters, water goes to your nose and you sneeze or get tears in your eyes, some get a running nose immediately. Same with salt water. Either you sneeze or you have a running nose and the mucus gets out, thus the sinus pain resides.

I know salt water helps. That's what saline solution and a netty pot both use. I just don't see the benefit in turning it into something painful? But you mentioned this way clears people permanently so now I'm wondering how?

How.. I am not the right person to answer that dear. I just know a few home remedies for simple problems which usually my parents suggest when I need.
Like chewing cumin seeds or boiling cumin seeds in water and drinking it for mild gastritis, equal amount of lemon and water with a pinch of salt for nausea, applying coconut oil for mild rashes, scratch due to ant bites etc, ginger and lemon juice without sugar for indigestion, ginger for cough, also honey works great, rubbing tongue with lemon if you have lost taste (usually happens to be when I take certain meds), etc. frankly I don't know how these work but they do work wonders for me. The only thing is that you have to believe.
