Kay so we had the AAARRGGHH thread, and we have the peeves thread, how about giving something else a try.
I want happy stories, and funny stories. Pretty much anything that made your day. There's a lot of AARRGGHH, but there's a lot of things that make us smile too.
Lately I've been kind of down in the dumps, so it would be really nice to hear some happy stories.
I'm sure I'll have some to.
For now, let's just try and brighten people's day. :)

Halloween's recent passing just made me remember the Halloween when I went trick or treating and after I rung the door bell at one house the door was opened long enough for a little fluffy white puppy to be dropped in my bucket. That had to have been one of the best treats to me, tricks to mom, ever. ;) Too bad I had to bring it back. Clever attempt.

I always find it somewhat difficult to come up with a new idea for a present for my lovely wife on birthdays, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc.
Well, this year for our seventh wedding anniversary I did what I usually do; 'he went to Jared's'. She was delighted with the diamond Anniversary Ring, it was beautiful or so I am told by her...
But it seemed not quite enough, I wanted to do something more... so when they opened a beautiful dinner movie theater here in our town we made a night of it and really enjoyed this experience with living room sofas and dinner as we comfortably watched "The Christmas story.'
Then, as we love live theater I got us orchestra seating for 'South Pacific' for the end of this month....
Yesterday, while walking past Marta to my office, she turned me around, looked into my eyes and said "I want you to understand something, as much as I appreciate all that you do, I would love you if you were the guy on the corner asking for change.'
Although she gave me presents also this one was the one that literally made me warm all over.

Something that makes me smile was when I took care of a stray dog that we named fancy and when I first saw her I look her right in the eye and told her " I will love you no matter what and you will always be in my heart " I gave her a hug and started to cry thinking that no dog should ever be left on the side of the road. And if you want to know that happen over summer when I was 11 years old! :)

I sometimes can't help but smile when my in-laws lab mix gets too greedy for his own good. When they throw dog bones in the yard the big brute will take his bone - and then proceed to rob the other dogs of theirs one at a time until he has an overflow mouth full of four bones. Then, since his mouth is too full to eat what he has and since he's too worried to put the bones down or else the others might reclaim them, all he can do is sit there with bones sticking out looking really pathetic because he can't enjoy what he has. The silly dog is worthy of his own fable.

My ex husband got a flat tire outside my house today ,it was lashing rain, and a wind that would skin a monkey...
As I watched him struggle to change the tire, the wind skining his big bald head, the rain pleting of his angry face,I felt something happen to my face... I was smiling...
Ah,a happy memory of my ex.. who knew!

I'm a softie. After my second fishie died from being electrocuted just last night, I went and got, not one, but TWO more. I got a black one with a white fin called Obsidian, and a Silver one with a red fin that my boyfriend named Avery.
They are both crown tail Bettas, and don't worry, I got a whole other tank for the second fishie. Now I have two because I'm a softie and I couldn't choose between them. :)

Although this is the happy thread,I have PEEVES!
Where do I vent them... a member called an op's son, a 'stupid ungrateful git' and another member with over 300 posts, giving a reddie because he ASSUMED a question asked about an op's age was going to lead to a bashing of the op!
I'm not one for arguments but in this case I'm going to say... bring it on!

My boss has been on my case about buying a house to start my "first big investment" and to get the first-time buyer's tax credit, I kept telling him I can't because the cost of living in this area is just too high for me. But then he tells me, "bear in mind you'll be getting a pretty big raise soon."

Yesterday, my wife and I took our two sons to get their flu shots. My seven year old was first, and I had to hold him still. He really did not want to get it. After seeing him get his, I looked over at my five year old, and he was holding up his sleeve with a confident, "tough guy" face on. I couldn't have been more proud of him.
All the way home he was saying it was no big deal, and how brave that he was.
My oldest was telling him to "shut up".
Nowadays, my wife and kids make me smile more than ever.

Here's one for you
This lady brings her pet duck to the vet
She sets his lifeless body down and asks the
Vet
"can you tell me whats wrong with my duck?"
The vet takes his stethoscope out and after a short listen says "he's dead"
The upset lady asks
"how can you be so sure you havent taken any tests he may just be in a coma or something"
So the vet gets up leaves the room ,he returns with a Labador retriever who gets up on the table sniffs the duck and looks at the vet, whimpers and shakes his head, next the vet brought in a tabby cat,he sets the cat on the table the cat sniffs the duck meow in a moaning way and jumps down
The vet looks at the lady and says
"your duck is dead"
He then gives the lady a bill for 250$
The lady says
"250$ !!!! just to tell me my duck is dead"
The vet says
"well yes you didnt take my word for it,so i had to charge for the Lab report and Cat Scan"

He said that he took a long time find the Christmas gift for me because there are thousands of sources available today on the web, at last, he decided to give me a MP3 player for Christmas, and he found it from Uxsight.com (http://www.uxsight.com/) he said he knows that music makes me smile, and he hope i can smile everyday, he loves my sweet smile. Also he wants me know that he always love me, he hopes me like his gift. Yes, i prefer the gift, and when i use the MP3 to listen music, i smile, it's not only owing to the music, but also my father's love.

Trust? The words Sneezy and trust do not belong in the same sentence. I trust him, he's wary of everyone. Oops. Not he's going to kill me! Don't tell him I said that.
Here's the thing. I sent him the lady gaga link but he refused to listen to it. He said that he's done with her music because she's strange. I reminded him that I'm strange too and he likes me. It went downhill from there. ;)
Here's the song I sent him. It really isn't bad. Really! :)

I want extra money!
Extra money? What's that? I have barely enough to get by, I'd love extra.
Here's the sad fact. If I had extra I wouldn't be buying anything elaborate. I'd love to be able to get some new socks, maybe a winter jacket that isn't falling apart, gloves, new snow pants for the kids, a few steaks. You know, luxury items.
So, what do you want extra money for?

To get my kitty fixed, get my wisdome teeth removed, maybe get a cheap car (that's being ambitious) and to help pay off school.
I guess I wouldn't consider that extra, just more...

Thank you my dear... I tried. I love this season and decorating. Next year though Marta wants us to get away ans leave on vacation during Christmas. If so, then I will only put up a few lights... and I WILL miss it.
Even though I upgraded my electrical ($2,300.00) I am in a constant battle with GFI's and circuit breakers going off. Next Spring, I am having another electrician come in and do it right. With a new separate big box outside that will be dedicated to christmas lights ONLY.

My fish make me smile, every day. I really love them.
I had a nightmare the other night that they died, I was sad, but then I woke up, and saw that they were happy and healthy, and I was relieved.
I think the nightmare was because there was some movie on TV and in one part these 2 guys got in to a fight in a hotel room and smashed the fish bowl, and it showed the helpless critter flopping on the ground. It made me sad, I really hope they used a fake fish on an invisible string for that, because if they let a goldfish die just for some stupid effect I'll be upset.
I have a soft spot for fish, what can I say?

I surely hope so, it's terrible!
I feel like a big softy, but really, I feel TERRIBLE when I see things like that.
It's one thing if I'm at an ocean, and I find a dead fish, but a completely different thing if I had seen it alive and then dead, or watched it die. I can't do it, same with any animal. That's why I can handle eating meat, because I never see the face of the creature. If I had seen it before hand, I'd feel sick and wouldn't be able to eat it.

I love the snow, but unfortunately I haven't seen a winter wonderland in a while. It was far more enjoyable when I was a child and didn't have to shovel... When I was older I actually enjoyed shoveling until someone stole my parking spot or stole my lawn furniture that was saving it.:D
It did snow here a couple weeks ago and stuck (which is really not allowed and hasn't happened in 18 years) and maybe killed everything I have planted for the last 15 years:eek: The snow and I are on the offs right now. I got my christmas present from my mom today. It doesn't matter that it was just a couple pairs of fuzzy socks. It doesn't matter that I what they were. It doesn't matter that she's given me socks for the past 10 years or so. What matters, is that although she really couldn't afford to send me anything, and I told her that just a card would be fine, she still took the time and money to send me something for christmas.
besides, there's just something about fuzzy socks that make my feet happy and me smile ^_^

I have always placed thought above price when receiving, and giving, a gift. I would much rather get the expected socks that cost a few bucks than something I know cost more money than she could afford, and I possibly wouldn't like.
The gift I treasure the most from this year are pictures of my nieces and nephew. It's as close as I could get to seeing family for the holidays.
My sister wanted me to send her pictures of her kids. Her laptop crashed, taking two years worth of pictures with it. I put all the pictures I had on a disc, and also turned most of them into a slideshow dvd for her. She get the discs on christmas eve, looked through the cd that night, but didn't get a chance to watch the dvd until christmas morning.
She said that it was the best gift she'd ever gotten. The holidays had her overwhelmed this year and she was feeling down and a little fed up with the kids, and tired from having a newborn in the house. She sat there and cried while watching the movie, then made our mom watch it with her when she came over later in the day, so she had someone to cry with.
Just knowing that she liked it, means the world to me. It sucks being so far away, sometimes. I want to help out, but I can't. They want to help me, but they can't. Something as simple as compiling a dvd lets them know I care and makes me feel like I'm helping in some small way.
I don't care what holiday you celebrate, or don't. There's just something about getting a little token of family that just means the world.

Doing regular things (chores "UGG") around the house while the radio is playing...
If I hear a song I love, I always stop and run into the living room and start dancing. (badly)
My pups usually are just laying around sleeping, as soon as they see me dancing they go nuts, running every where and jumping on each other, jumping from couch to chair and back, running in the kitchen, etc.
I think they are really embarrassed for me and don't know how to express it. But it always makes me smile BIG time.:D
I should take a video (of the dog part) sometime.:)
