My daughter just told me that her roommate is moving in two weeks. He is taking his $1000 security with him.
Does my daughter have any rights, squatter rights or something like that in this situation? Doesn't this roommate have an obligation to her? Can she demand that her roommate give her a 30 day notice to either get another roommate, secure the money for next months rent and security, and/or find another roommate in time or - more out? Does she have any rights in this situation.
The roommate is the tenant and he was taking 1/2 the rent from her every month. She also gave him 1/2 months security as requested. The rent is $1000 a month. Her portion was $500 a month. Doesn't she get her own security of $500 back also?
