My insinkerator pro-17 problem started with not shutting off when we turned the plug counter clock wise. Then it would shut off, but now it won't start. We noticed the contact switch that use to be inside the unit, is loose out side of the unit. If we push this switch, the unit works but not with the twist plug.

Have installed the switch back where it belongs and tried again? Let me know, Tom
