I got an summons filed with the circuit court on Nov 11 from an former employer due to me not returning an computer that was brought for me over 4 years ago when everything was good. Now times are bad and the owner wants the computer back which is no problem unfortunately I have 4 years of personal stuff on the computer. So I need time to get my stuff off now he has filed this summons and I have 20 days to respond with an answer I just need to know what exactly is an answer and how do I go about writing one?

If the computer was purchased by your previous employer in order for you to complete your work more efficiently, then it belongs to your employer.

What type of answer are you trying to reply with? You're most likely going to either have to a)return the computer or b)refund your former employer for the cost of the computer. It's up to you what you'd like to do.

Is this is civil or small claims suit?
