Hi guys,
I just need to speak as I don't know if I have done somethimg terrible...
Basically I have been told today great news that we have a new baby born in the family today and I assumed everyone knew and now I have ruined the surprise for the father by congratulating him!! I feel So silly... Of course I didn't know... What shall I do? :o

Um. . Why didn't the father know?
I wouldn't feel bad if I were you, he was bound to find out at some point :) I'd have assumed the father new he was a father and done the same thing, with all the excitement about the new arrival I doubt that something like that would seem important to the happy family.

So you found out before the father did? That sounds a little goofy! Either way, I don't think you should be down on yourself. It was certainly a reasonable enough assumption that the father would know before you would. If I were the father I'd be upset not at you but at the fact that you or anyone else) knew before I did. As far as anyone else goes, they should have had the brains to let the father know before telling other people. So it's really not your fault.

Thank you so much for replying, well exactly this is what I thought. Sister inlaw msg'd me early and said just letting you know if you ont know already and then all the details of the birth, I replied congratulating and also a pic she sent. I 100% thought that the father (my brother) would be there and knew so I just texted him even niaivly thinking I won't call as he may be at hosp etc...
But this wasn't the case he was at home and didn't know the sex either. (which I kindly informed him).. OMG
Now my head is exploding with worry what everyone is going to be saying, also what I should say on my defence... thanks
