For about a month now my left nipple has been itchy and sometimes there are pieces of skin peeling off, but they are very very small pieces of skin. It's not itchy all the time, just sometimes and it's itchy directly on my nipple. When I look really closely it looks like there are broken pieces of skin, like when your hands get so dry your skin cracks. It doesn't hurt, it only hurts a little after I scratch it because my nipple is sensitive. I have not recently changed soaps or laundry detergant so I don't think it's being irritated by anything like that. Is it just dry skin or something else? I searched online but I didn't find anything helpful.

Well last night I tried putting just regular lotion on it and it kind of stung for a bit. Is it harmful to use eczema cream if you don't have eczema?

It shouldn't as it is made specially to put on broken skin, but just in case it does maybe aloe vera gel would work, I have not tried this on eczema before but it is great at adding moisture to sunburn so I think it would work and shouldn't sting.

Do you wear a bra? If not , its possible that the rubbing of your shirts are irritating your nipple, or if your bra its too big. Put a little bag balm(green tin can of salve found with first aid creams) on a bandaid. Its cooling and won't burn. It's a natural salve that farmers used to use on cow utters but works well for healing rashes, burns, cuts, cold sores and dry skin.

Ok thanks, I will try the aloe vera, I have a plant in my house that has aloe vera in it, my grandma is always using it on cuts lol.

2labsmom, I do wear a bra, the only time I don't is when I sleep. It only itches when I'm not wearing a bra so it probably does have something to do with the shirt irritating it. Maybe I'll start sleeping with my bra on and see if it helps. It hasn't hurt since I put the lotion on it the other night but as I said it comes and goes so we'll see if it comes back. Thanks.
