I am from India. I was a F1 student in Texas this year till May. During that time I was a full time student and worked on CPT in a firm . Then I applied for my OPt and moved to WA. Due to delay I was able to start working on my OPT from sep 15th. On OCT 31 my H1b Kicked in.

I have the following questions.1

1. WHat forms to file?
2. Can I have the standard deduction of 5500$?
3. I relocated to WA with my money . Can I use them as deductions. ( I was paid for it as a package which was taxed and paid for)
4. Will I be able to deduct my Tution money ?
5. Answers for questions I have not asked :).

Thanks
Raj

During F1 and OPT you are nonresident for 5-years. So if you did not complete 5-years on F1 till H1-B kicked in, you should file non-resident tax return (if you are not married).
1. 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ
2. No
3. Yes, you can deduct moving expenses
4. No.
