Hi there I have a Briggs generator with the standard 30 amp twist lock output and have purchased a Emergen 10-12k switch that has a 50 Amp 3 prong twist input. Question how to I make a cable for this to connect between the two units. I know you use a 10/4 cable if it were a 30 amp but I don't know how to addapt the 4 prong to 3 prong.

Thanks
James Hilliard

Need to make a cord with the proper mates to each outlet or inlet. Make sketches of each plug or outlet, better look for NEMA numbers, such a 6-30, L15-20, and bring to a supplier to find the mates.

Check the inlet. There should be 4 connections, if there is a marking on the inlet, look for CS6375.

The ground is a tab, not a pin as in most connectors. If you only have 3 connections, you can't use this inlet.

The matching connector for this is a CS6364C. You may have to go to an electrical supply store. This is not a common connector so the Big Box places may not have it.

Yeah, that looks like the CS6375. That copper tab is the ground, the prongs are the 2 hots and the neutral.

You will need the CS6364C to mate. Check this link:

Product Datasheet -- CS6364C (http://www.hubbellcatalog.com/wiring/section-b-datasheet.asp?FAM=Locking_Devices&PN=CS6364C)

Pick up an L14-30 plug as well.

So you do need 4 wires in your cord.
