View Full Version : Sammy Sosa Admits to Skin Bleaching

For those of you who speculated that Sammy Sosa was bleaching his skin and that it was not a skin rejuvenation process, you were right. He will not release what he's using. But I guess Mono mixed with something else?

Here's the article and I enclosed a link to the article underneath:

Sammy Sosa Admits to Bleaching Skin

Although he’s still being vague about his reasons, baseball legend Sammy Sosa confessed to Univision (via the NY Post) that he has been bleaching his skin. "It's a bleaching cream that I apply before going to bed. . . . I use [it] to soften [my skin], but [it] has bleached me some," he admitted.

Sosa shocked fans when he showed up at the Latin Grammys last week looking like a completely different person, complete white skin and green eyes. He insists, however, that the lights from the camera made him look a lot lighter than he actually is. "I'm not a racist. I live my life happily . . . I don't think I look like Michael Jackson,” he said.

Sosa, who turns 41 tomorrow, declined to indentify the name of the bleaching cream he’s been using.

If he has now admitted to bleaching, I wonder why the secrecy as to what he was using...

Yeah, he might as well say what the active ingredients are and which country.
Just because people lighten doesn't mean that they are racists or "trying to look like MJ". I wonder has people been saying this to him?

I'm sure people have been saying this to him. And I don't like the fact that he threw Michael Jackson under the bus like that. How is Michael's family supposed to feel when they hear that?

Yes people have been making this insinuation in the blogs. And also Michael did not lighten his skin this drastically in the course of 6 months, so I would never even think to make this comparison myself, but of course Michael Jackson has unfortunately become the poster child for bleachers everywhere.

The fact that he hasn't said what product(s) he used, says everything.

He is still shopping around for what to say.

If he used Hq or Mono, these transient results are likely to backfire later on, anyway.

Despite his heavy wallet.

I respect the fact that he made a public confession to having bleached at all, even though it's no one's business (except all of his hopelessly devoted fans that have grown up with him) and I would never expect any celebrity to give a free endorsement to a product that they are using, hence why admit it if you are not getting paid to promote it? That is the mentality of most celebrities; seldom do they think "let me give this product a plug so maybe it will help other bleachers around the world." Get real lol.

Lol

Only because the general public was already calling him a LIAR with his first false confession about laser!

To me its equivalent of a celebrity going from brunette, to blonde, showing up at an event, and denying they have gone blonde!

Yeh but imagine all the female celebrities that get called out for having breast implants and they either deny it (even though we know its true) or don't respond at all. People in the public eye get called out on a lot of crap but very few actually tell the truth about it, so I still commend him for that, even though it is no one's business.

I guess Im going through a Sammy these days.. lol, I had to slow down even further with the lightening because I'm lightening too fast and my hands and arms still haven't caught up yet (although they are beginning to peel a little now). My family and also a neighbor yesterday had did a double takeand/or were staring too hard in my face. I didn't like that. My mom asked "are you using bio claire again?", I said no it's something else.. w/out the steroids though. So now I cut back to once every other night so that it will be more gradual and people will have more time to adjust slowly instead of a swift change.

Lol... thanks! The patches are almost gone and close to one uniform color, less noticeable. They'll eventually stop staring... I hope. I was trying to think if I want to go as light as my sis since she is Alicia Keys color (when Alicia is at her lightest). I think I would prefer the more tanned Alicia or Beyonce. So, maybe I'll reach by Feb.

He says he plans on marketing the product, not sure if he was joking.
He said it was a cream from Europe, I can't even think of a European product that could do that:confused:
The YouTube interview of him was not bad, it was the picture that shocked so many people.

To me he looks more attractive with his dark complexion, and his new color does not look too nice looking and blotchy. Possibly he could have used a slightly darker makeup to cover on his face?

Sosa luks better than he ever has!

The moment he reveals his bleach cream, some of the people who are criticising him will secretly start using the same cream.

He lukd rather unattractive with his dark colour. Not because dark is unattractive but because his colour was uneven, his pores looked large in his pictures, his under eyes were even darker, and his forehead has dark lighter uneven tones when he was darker.. His skin always lukd DULL and never GLOWED!

Dark skin luks BEautiful when it glows and is even . His skin was far from that then!

And this is the best alternative when your skin doesn't glow, go get lightened and you'd compensate a little for the dull jaded look !

Id run to his bleaching treatment in a SECOND ! And I believe that the people criticising him will run for it too ( well maybe not all of them but most ) in no time if he reveals it!

You know.. I agree.. with you.. he did have pretty bad skin I put earlier I liked him better dark.. and I maintain that he looks better dark.. he's a little creepy now... but I disagree in that His light looks is better on him.. (Know what I mean?. He personally looks better as a dark guy... but definitely his light skin is so much clearer and grighter and nicer and less dull and his pores certainly are nicer... I guess.. if he could have gotten his dark skin nice then he would have been the best! But I don't know if that is even possble without some lightening agents cause he'd literally have to pull off so many layers to even it all out... then of course he would lighten...

He wasn't lying I guess when he said a rejuvenation process.. LOL

Too bad I doubt he will sell the stuff he's using... we all know what he's using ain't OTC... LOL... so we're out of luck

Boricua1

Yeah I think she is posing... apparently from what I've heard there are even classes that teach you red carpet poses and ettiqutte so you photograph better... it's funny but I've heard it's actually really hard... at least to look natural doing it... some peopl do really well, for example, Beyonce manages to get some great red carpet shots, and even Paris hilton gets good ones... but Tyra.. doen't do it well ironically, cause she's the one who makes a living in front of a camera... and Kim K does well red carpet too...

I really wish I could be Sosa's wife's complexion... but it would be too drastic for me... my whole fam would definitely know and do something like check me into a looney bin claming I hated myself... LOL

Are you serious? That man looks an absolute fool with that bleached skin! I think he went too far... I think lightening to a subtle glow is cool but that whole bleached out look is the pits. He skin looks splotchy and his dark circles around his eyes are even more noticeable. You are so right. This look may look well on someone else, but Sammy was a handsome man before he made the big revision. His new face is more uneven than before, and his fair tone only exposes the flaws in his skin, now it is very blotchy, dull, and lifeless. There is absolutely no glow to his skin. It is an unnatural fair tone he had reached.

No way in hell would I run out and buy the product he used because those are not the results that I want and I will continue to talk down on what ever he used because he no longer looks his best... he used to look waaaaay better than that. I want natural, even, glowing complexion. I do believe over time that he will fix the flaws and let his skin tone down to a more natural appearance that will fit him. Everyone does not look hot light. Besides, the contacts look too creepy, similar to the Twilight vamps.

I definitely agree with you on that one! My goodness. When I first started bleaching my immediate family didn't look at me crazy. But like everyone else oh my goodness. They were bombarding my parents with questions. It's so annoying. Mind your business. And now that my skin is pretty and even now they all want to give me compliments and tell me I'm pretty. Losers.

Yesterday morning The Today Show had a segment on skin bleaching, (Why are people bleaching their skin) no doubt thanks to Mr. Sosa lol

They were in London and I saw bottles of the usual creams, Fair and White, Fair and Lovely. They also showed clips of Fair and Lovely skin lightening commercials.

Charles Barkley having light makeup applied to skin on ESPN talking about Sammy Sosa "your not going to get into the hall of fame because your white" You know Charles couldn't keep his big mouth shut. Lol He's already light skinned what does he care?

An Indian women getting laser treatments to get lighter. That's what the dermatologist thought Sammy might have used in combination with skin lightening creams and chemical peels.

They showed an African lady who has been bleaching for 15 years, her skin was not bad, it still looked good. A reporter asked her can't you be black and beautiful? The African lady said sure you can be black and beautiful but some people want to be light chocolate.

In the end Matt Lauer liked the way Sammy Sosa looked before the lighening.

I think that people are mistaking Sosa's five o'clock shadow/facial hair for uneven skin tone. I think his skin looks fine now, actually.

I don't think it actually matters what Matt Laur prefers in terms of Sosa's looks by the way, lol. Who cares? It's about how Sammy feels about himself. If he feels good looking and confident like this, then good for him!

Sammy never had great skin to begin with. If you look at his before photos, he always had uneven, and blemished skin, now he's has lighter imperfect looking skin

If you see him in motion his skin actually looks good and its glowing. Just go on YouTube. I think the flash from the cameras just made him look bad

You know I'm surprised everyone is like " oh i respect him for admitting he bleached in public"

C'mon guys, let me know how many of you are going to admit to bleaching once you succeed in public.

Nobody will:
Because they want to keep the secret for themselves once they succeed
People will start stating that its just the bleach that got you pretty.

So why hyprocrisy? If I were a celeb and I bleached, hell Id say anything to anyone. Id do the Michael Jackson denial episode which he did for years!
