Depending on when you conceived it could take quite sometime to show up. You could have stopped the birth control 5 weeks ago but conceived a few days ago... in that case it won't show up? On the other hand you may not be pregnant but stressing yourself out and thus the symptoms your having? Cramping and lower back pain was a definite symptom for me on my pregnancies (along with frequent urination and #2 (body naturally cleaning of toxins)). After you get off the birth control your body becomes irregular for some time to adjust to a new natural schedule... so some changes in your ovulation to periods (frequency and volume) could be effected. Since you are trying to have a baby make sure you are taking the Materna Vitamins (Folic Acid) and take care of your body. They say on average it takes about 3 - 6 months for the average woman to conceive (which is not my case... but I have heard of it from other couples trying to conceive).

You should talk to a doctor about conception and what he suggests would assist you in the process. I know there are some ovulation kits which can assist you in detecting the best time of fertility... there are pills for fertility as well. As it goes for right now... wait until the week passes when you where suppose to get your period (my period doesn't show up for 4 days into the week of my expected period)... then it is heavy for 2 days and gone!

Give it some time and if you are still unsure... there is blood tests which are far more accurate (and that is how I found out... sure the urination test detected negative... I was so sure I was... took the blood test and yes in fact I was pregnant)... sometimes it is just to early and the hormones haven't built up enough to show up on the urination test. Best thing to do is take care of yourself and test in a week... or better yet 2 weeks.

Good luck!

Stopping birth control can mess with your periods drastically--you may be late for your period and you may be pregnant---it's a waiting game right now.

You should be consulting with your OB/GYN if you are trying to get pregnant. Charting ovulation is almost a must, and you should be taking pre-natal vitamins.

I've been trying for a baby :) and I haven't took birth control for 7 weeks.
Now due for my period and I am 3 days late.

Also I have been having shooting pains in the bottom of my stomach (on the left side)
And also a weird feeling in my stomach  I can't really explain it
But I was thinking perhaps somebody else has had it and have indeed been preggaz!

Would appreciate all answers! :) because I'm really confused lol

It sounds like these symptoms can be pregnancy (which I had the same ones being pregnant twice - even though each pregnancy can differ), PMS or stress related reasons. Being off the birth control for 7 weeks can really mess up your cycles changing frequency to volume... so it could be PMS. It could be the flu too. Unfortunately... it will be the waiting game. I don't have any way to tell you that you are or are not. I will cross my fingers for you. You can take the home pregnancy test now or in 1-2 weeks from now... if it is negative and you have had these symptoms for more then a week then maybe get a pregnancy blood test done. If it's still negative (which blood tests are very accurate) then you may not be but if still in disbelief wait until your next expected period and take the test again... that should be about 3 weeks from now... and you should get an answer. Continue to try, take Materna Vitamins (Folic Acid), eat well, drink plenty of fluids and stay away from alcohol, drugs or smoking (you and your partner) - which it sounds like your are :).

Go to the doctor; it could be a pelvic/urinary tract infection as well.

Now that you're period is late, you can start taking pregnancy tests. Make sure you use first morning urine. If the first test is negative, and your period still hasn't come in the next week or so, take another test.

PMS and early pregnancy symptoms are often very similar. Don't be too disappointed if you're not pregnant this time. Even healthy, fertile couples can take up to a year of trying.

Also, have you talked with your dr yet? If not, you definitely should so that you can make sure you're taking prenatal vitamins and as healthy as you can be when you do get pregnant.

I took a hpt this morning and its was negative. :(
So yeah I will have to wait until the end of the week.
I was due on Monday.. I felt fine.
Then had pains yesterday thought I was going to come on , but no blood..
Then today I feel weird! I've also been urinating a lot and feeling tired.
Don't know whether I am imagining it or..
But a bit strange how I haven't come on and I've been unprotected for 7 weeks:confused:

I am sorry you didn't get the answer right away... you will have to wait longer... but please keep your thread about 3 DAYS LATE!! To 3 days late need some answers can't deal with the waiting game! Under one thread because it will confuse posters (redundant) and the answers shouldn't be that different.

These threads should be merged somehow to better assist you in getting answers on one thread.

Seven weeks really isn't too long. Like I said before, even healthy, fertile, couple still take up to a year. Are you keeping track of your ovulation?

If you are having PAINS, then you should talk to your doctor.

I'm guessing it's you stressing about it that is affecting the timing of your period--and you should be in contact with your doctor regardless if you are actively TRYING to get pregnant.

There was a faint line me and my fiancé could see it,
Then it disappeared!

It will change if you look at it past the time that it is supposed to be read... usually 10 minutes. This is called an evaporation line.

Take another test and read it during the first few minutes.

xcarleex
Nov 12, 2009, 08:47 AM
Yes I do take it then wonder of I no I left it over five minutues. But wasn't more than 10.
Do you think this means positive?

Shall I wait until the morning to test.

Thanks

It is always best to test in the morning with first morning urine. You have a better chance of getting an accurate reading.

OK think I'm just going to wait until Sunday,
As I was due on Monday so that will make it a week then.
Surely it would be able to detect by then.
Fingers crossed :)

Thanks for your help

Yes, Sunday at the earliest would be a good idea - for the sake of accuracy. ;) Good luck

I've been trying for a baby, and I am a week late for my period which is unusual for me.
I have been experiencing abdominal cramps and what feels like a stitch in my lower stomach on the side and it comes and goes.
My breasts don't hurt but they are very swollen also mood swings. But still no period.

I've took several tests and they came out negative! :(
Why is this? What could it be?

All answers appreciated :)

You could be just having a late period. It happens to us all at least once.

Wait another week, if your period doesn't come, test again using first morning urine.

What the longest time it can take for a test to show up positve? (how late do you have to be?)
Or does it vary?.

J_9
Nov 15, 2009, 08:57 AM
It can vary from woman to woman. I've known tests to show positive BEFORE a missed period and up to 4 months of pregnancy. This is one reason we always recommend a blood test if several tests show up negative.

Nov 15, 2009, 09:00 AM
Hmm.. true!
Guess I'l have to wait 2 weeks and see if I get my period, and if a test shows up negative. Il have a blood test done. Its just these pains don't feel like period cramps... its weird!

If the pain gets too intense be sure to go to the ER or nearest Urgent Care Center to be sure it is not a tubal pregnancy.

xcarleex
Nov 15, 2009, 09:06 AM
OK thanks,
Sorry to be a pain lol
But what is a tubal pregnancy?

J_9
Nov 15, 2009, 09:11 AM
ok thanks,
sorry to be a pain lol
but what is a tubal pregnancy?

First you need to understand how pregnancy actually occurs. The ovary releases the egg into the fallopian tube where it is fertilized by the sperm. Once fertilized, the egg travels down through the fallopian tube to the uterus where it implants. No proven thing as implantation bleeding.

Now, sometimes, for some reasons, one being scarring in the fallopian tube, for instance, the fertilized egg gets stuck in the fallopian tube where it begins to grow. This is accompanied by severe pain in one side... whatever side the egg implanted into the fallopian tube, and can be life threatening if it ruptures.

I'm currently trying for a baby, so I stopped taking my birth conrtol, then I was due for my period and it didn't come. Obviously due to me stopping my pill.
But now because I didn't have a period I'm not sure when I am due on my next one.
I should have kept track of it but my mind was on other things.

So I don't have a clue when I'm expecting a period so I don't know whether I am pregnant or I'm not due for a period till another week:confused::confused::confused: really haven't got the slightest idea.

Has anybody got any suggestions as to how I could work it out?
Seems like mission impossible lol

There really is no way to tell because your body is coming off the pill. For some, it takes 28 - 30 days, others may go much longer until it arrives.

If you track ovulation, watching for that would be a good clue (period would come 10 - 14 days later) but otherwise, it's a waiting game.

xcarleex
Nov 25, 2009, 10:14 AM
Ohh I didn't know that I did an ovulation test just over a week ago, and in fact I was ovulating. So would you say I'm due end of this week - beginning of next week? Or...

I have wrote on here before about the same situation.
But I know I should take a pregnancy test in the morning but I couldn't help myself,
So I took a midstream one and its (4 days before my period is due but I have been trying to concieve) and there was a faint line in the test window but it was visible (you didn't have to squint) then after 5 minutes it got fainter then after 10 minutes it eventually disappeared all together?

What did this mean? am or aren't I?
Now I am very confused because I know there is a high chance of me being pregnant as I've been trying and doing it properly (when ovulating)

Why did this happen ?:( I could see it there for 5 minutes

That happened to me... but it didn't fade away after five minutes and it was a very, very, very faint line... I was pregnant with my daughter. To be sure wait and do it again the first day after your last period; morning urine - to be sure and have accurate results.

These are called evaporation lines. You MUST read the test in the time limit allowed for an accurate response.

xcarleex

I did read it in the time limit,
And the line appeared straight away and it was pink.
It was there for about 5 minutes then gradually faded away! The time limit was 10 minutes or so it said on th box.
