There is an egg-like smess on ceramic dishes and in glasses after washing. Washing in sink with dawn removes smell. What is it? What do I do. (This is an older GE Potscrubber 900 model.)

If you took apart your dishwasher you would be amazed what you will find lurking around parts. Its called 'dishwasher cheeze' and it is really quite disgusting. A build up of grease, food scraps, unable to find exit through the drain after even very hot water. Some of those parts are impossible for us to access and clean. I would suggest a run through with chlorine bleach. Just about l/3 of a cup on the bottom, so it will wash through with hot water. Do it without plates.

I've never heard it put quite that way, tick.

You are truly a cheese whiz.

If all dishes on which eggs were eaten aren't hand washed before placing in dishwasher all the dishes will stink. Have had this issue with all dishwashers we've had. Also, check your dish sponge/pad, these get raunchy pretty quickly and will impart a nasty smell to anything washed with it. We throw them into the dishwasher regularly.

Put full strength vinegar in spray bottle and spray everything in dishwasher, then run dishwasher. Also prewash egg dishes by hand in cold water before placing in dishwasher because hot water bakes smell in dishes utensils etc.
