I have been searching for the cause of my chronic nerve pain and numbness
In my feet and legs and chronic pain of my head neck and shoulders. The
Pain is debilitating and affects my life very much. I had an mri of my neck
Last week, which I thought might help shed some light on the possibility of
Relief of some pain, however all the mri showed was arthritis in neck and
Shoulders. I have been seeing dr's for about 4 years praying that, I might
Find the cause of my pain. I have been on amatryptaline, gabapentin,
Currently I am on 100 mg nortryptaline at bedtime, in the morning I take
5mg norethin and 40 mg celexa also ranitidine. When I heard the results of
My mri I literally broke down and cried because I was hoping for some
Answers and for some relief of this constant debilitating pain. I have had
Ncs done bloodwork and the only thing that I have come away from my
Neurologist with has been carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand which
Really changed nothing other than my knowledge that pain medication for the
Surgery gave me a brief period of relief from my pain. I am so totally
Frustrated with living with this pain. I don't know what to do next my
Neurologist wants to schedule routine appts with me.. the soonest I can see
Him again is April of 2010. Can you offer me any advice? If pain management
Is the only option that I see, how do I go about initiating this, or do you
Have any suggestions for me? I know that I can't live with the pain forever
I also don't think I should have to. My quality of life sucks right now and
I don't know where to turn. Please help me!

Tough call for us, antiqueruby. MRIs are the end all of be all to find out what is going on in a person's body. What makes you think that arthritis should not give this much pain? It is a debilitating condition for most people, even those who can tolerate a lot of pain. Some people can live with arthritic pain by taking as little as two Tylenol Supers a day.

All you can do is keep on plugging away at these doctors, while in the meantime, try acupuncture, marijauna (some of my clients use medicinal marijuana available through the Cdn. Govermment) and tell me it is pretty good controlling pain. Just go through the whole gambit of anything you can think of until you can see a doctor who can give you advice on controlling the pain.
