Hello,

I was on my 23 day of my period and I had a bit of bleeding. Does it means I am pregnant?

No, this does not mean you are pregnant.

What is your age? Do you, or have you, ever used any form of birth control?

While bleeding in the early months of pregnancy is not uncommon, bleeding usually means you are not pregnant, but there are other factors to determine first.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer! I am 36 y.o. and I am not taking any kind of birth control. My period is due next week.
Any clues?

Many thanks again

At 36 you could be getting to the perimenopausal stage in life. It begins a few years before menopause. Dome doctors believe this can last from 5 - 15 years. This begins between the ages of 35 - 45.

Most premenopausal women experience changes in their menstrual cycle. When estrogen levels begin to drop, the follicular phase of the cycle may be shortened, and this can shorten the total cycle from 28–30 days to 24–26 days, resulting in more frequent periods. On the other hand, some women begin having longer cycles because they are not ovulating as frequently. These changes can be quite different on an individual basis. Additionally, this declining/fluctuating estrogen level can produce a host of disturbing symptoms: hot flashes, increasing vaginal dryness, sleep problems, mood swings, breast tenderness and many other complications.

But you should contact your doctor to make sure this is what is happening to you.

I am a bit surprise about your answer. We are trying to conceive and we have been referred for infertility. The test I had showed that I do ovulate and my pelvic scan showed some fibroids but not big enough to worry my doctor. Do I need to worry then?

I wouldn't worry if the doctor is not worried. The answer I gave is an average, and as we both know we are each individuals, not averages.

I got pregnant with my youngest at 38, so that just shows how average this info really is.

When answering over the internet like this I can only go by the law of averages since I cannot do a physical exam and I do not know full histories.

Thank you very much for your input. I understand that on the net it is very difficult to analyse deeply a problem without a physical examation!! Would you anyway be so kind to advice me on what tests I could be doing to help understanding this kind of problem so I can propose them to my doctor?
Many thanks

Kind Regards

I am not sure I understand what you mean by "tests" to understand this problem. Do you mean the fibroids? The fertility?

Well, you told me that this could be a pre-menopose symptom. So what kind of blood test should I do? Or is anything else I could do?

Kind regagrds

The doctor would most likely want to run some hormonal blood tests. Just make a doctor's appointment and talk with him about what you are going through.
