I passed the final inspection today on the self wiring I did on my cabin. This site was a big reason why I passed with flying colors. Thanks to everybody...

How did the fireplace turn out?

The fireplace is a source of marital un-bliss, sorry to say. I guess I should have checked with the boss before I made that decision. So the fireplace sits in the corner where I thought it should be, but still in the crate! I am afraid that if I take it out of the crate I be leaving in the crate...

Crap, a cabin with no fireplace, come on, we can help you. I have installed over a dozen.

The problem is not the fireplace, the problem is that I got a "electric" fireplace. I should have listened to you guys earlier on that decision also!

An electric fireplace? Now I have heard of everything.
Yes, you should have taken the advice given here, these people know some stuff.
Well done on the cabin wiring.

I hope you got a Fireplace with a Remote Control. You don't want to walk across the room.
Something to look at if you don't:

Tell her you got the electric fireplace so she wouldn't have to chop and haul firewood. Yes, I'm kidding.

Take the fireplace back... it's the only thing to do now. Gas is the only way to go, vented, ventless... either way it's what you REALLY want.
