Windows 7 just quit on my laptop computer one day. I tried putting in the W7RC1 CD to recover. I get errors when trying to reformat or reinstall the OS on the hard drive. Now it is dead.

I installed Win98 on my computer and it shows the same files it did before. It looks like I deleted the program files and registry links left behind.

Every time I turn on the computer it asks me for the time and date. Win98 rarely just starts up.

That's question about 3 different Windows operating systems within an hour. Do you have all 3 Microsoft original Windows CDs with unique keys?

I saved a file to desktop, but now I can't find it. Where would it have gone?

A load more information would be useful like:
Operating system
Rough specs
What you where doing at the time
Any recent changes

The more information you give the better we can assist with your issue.

As I said in post #13 above we need a ton more information.

To be honest these all sound like simple 1st line support question and are possibly comsci homework.

Thank You for getting back to me so soon. This is a school project. Everyone had to submit helpdesk questions, we are supposed to try to solve all of them. So I am not quite sure what the message is.

So you've basically posted a ton of your homework for us to do for you.
That's really low.
We are all volunteers and as such give our own time freely to assist others with their legitimate issues.

Thank you for responding, disregard the questions from me. I am discussing my questions to the teacher.

No you misunderstood,we were supposed to do this to see how helpdesk worked and try to help others. Not that you are doing my work. I am sorry that I wasted your time. They are legitimate problems we were supposed to get a program to help solve. As I said Disregard any questions. Sorry.
