Adopted a puppy end of May. He is a Terrier Pit Bull/Lab Mix. He's very healthy but probably not. I noticed that he has excessive eye secretion on both eyes, sometimes crusty, whitish but most of the time pale yellow. It is gross and it really BUGS me. I'd wipe them all of and in just a few seconds, they're back!! Grrrrr! I am starting to hate it being around my dog as it'd get on my clothes and when my dog plays with me. My boyfriend said it's probably because he sleeps a lot which he does but I doubt it. I had him checked up but the vet said there's nothing wrong. I've had a pitbull mix dog before and he never had this problem. And the best part, he knows how to wipe his face off! PLEASE HELP!!

Desperately seeking dog eye treatment.

Certain breeds can be prone to eye infections or even just weeping eyes.

Allergies is a common cause for weeping eyes as well.
Things like certain plants in the garden or household chemicals can irritate them.
Usually it is accompanied with itching but if it's something airborne it can just effect the eyes.

If you have any flowers in your garden try blocking them off so he can't get to them for a while and see if it helps, also get some new cleaning products that are allergy friendly.

There is an eye ointment that the vet can give you for "pink eye" (infection). My dog had it and the ointment worked in 3 days. Did your vet check tear production? If your dog has dry eye, then they can produce excessive discharge. There is a quick test for this and drops to moisturize the eye and prevent the irritation, discomfort and discharge. The reason your pup rubs his eyes on you is because it is so irritating and uncomfortable. Try another vet, who will figure out what's wrong and fix it.
