Semi poor acting personally, did not care for the homosexual theme. Don't see it being a classic.

The theme was "forbidden" love -- and could have involved two women, two people from different cultures or religions, two characters very different in age. It wasn't the gay thing that drove the movie; it was the characters' attitudes and feelings about themselves. As Ennis said, "This thing [human nature] gets hold of us at the wrong time and wrong place and we're dead."
