3 days ago I sold a Mazda that I had to a lady, she came over went for a drive with me, drove the car herself, looked the car over, called her husband up & he came over & looked the car over they both decided they liked it & bought it for 1,000$ . Today she called me up & says she wants her money back, she said she took it to a smog station & it did'nt pass smog test , she says that the engine is knocking & stated 3 or 4 other problems with the car that I never noticed when I sold it to her, I offerred to take it to a smog station & do whatever I had to so the car would pass the smog test, she said no you have to go to my smog guy (the same one that did'nt pass it ), so all in all I'm offerring to take care of the smog problem for her & she refuses to go along with it & simply states she wants her money back, I think in Ca. if you buy a used car you are responcible to have it checked out yourself & private party car sales are always under an "as is" law, she is stubborn & won't budge when I tell her I will take care of the smog to satisfy the state law that says seller must smog a car & just keeps stating "loudly" she wants her money back, does she have rights to her money back if I offer to pay for whatever it is to pass the smog test. Please help.

It is no longer your problem. You sold it to her. She bought it. You can kindly tell her to go to hell. If it was sold "as is" then it isn't your fault. You shouldn't offer to do anything. She has no right to harrass you. She made the choice and she is trying to screw you over. If she bought that car from a car lot do you think they would give her money back?
