I am 18, there is a 15 year old girl who wants to start dating. Can I go to jail if we do anything?:confused:

The age of consent in Canada is now 16.

Jail time and listed as a sexual offender for the rest of your life.

Not worth it, is it?

Posted deleted for inaccuracy. New laws were passed in '08. See discussion below.

I'm just going by what I've heard in the news. They recently raised it to 16, as far as I know. If they haven't I know they're talking about it. I sometimes do crossword puzzles during the news so I could be wrong. ;)

Let me see if I can find the news program online.

Okay, not the news program, but a news report;

SEX - Child sexual exploitation and the age of consent sex - Canada (http://www.canadiancrc.com/Age_of_consent_sex_in_Canada.aspx)

Ok... upon further research, the age of consent in Ontario is 16. It was changed by the Tackling Violent Crime Act in '08.

Am I the only one who finds it odd that OP KNOWS it's statutory rape - and that's how he titled his question?
