Write the formulas of the ions(including charges) present in aqueous solutions of the following electrolytes. Make sure it is both mass and charge balanced.

a. K2CO3

b. NH4NO3

c. Na2Cr2O7

d. Mg(C2H3O2)2

I really don't know how to do this.
These are my prelab assignment
So, I don't know...
Please show me how to do this. Thanks

Well, just give the ions present in the compounds you have.

For example, if you had NaCl, the ions would be Na^+ \ and\ Cl^-

Post your answers!

a.K2CO3
K+ and CO2-/3
b.NH4NO3
NH4+ and NO-/3
c.Na2Cr2O7
Na+ and Cr+6 and O-2

Correct
Correct
Nope.

Na2Cr2O7 is sodium dichromate (VI). The ion is Cr_2O_7\ ^{2-}

Do not worry, you may not have come across this very often. There are quite a few like this one.
MnO_4\ ^- is the manganate ion.
CrO_4\ ^{2-} is the chromate (VI) ion.

Just like sulfate, nitrate. Nitrite is NO_2 \ ^- sulfite is SO_3 \ ^{2-}.

But sulfide is S^{2-} and nitride is N^{3-}

write the formulas of the ions(uncluding charges)present in aqueous solutions of the following electrolytes. Make sure it is both mass and charge balanced.

So,

a) K2CO3-->(2K+)+(CO^-2/3)

So, is it correct answer for the question?

c) Na2Cr2O7-->2Na^+ + Cr2O^2-/7

d) Mg(C2H3O2)2-->Mg^2+ +2C2H3O2^-

SO is these are answer for the questions?

Yes, yes, yes and yes! Well done! :)

You're becoming good at it, right? ;)
