I have to write a thesis statement for Scarlet letter. My teacher says it needs to have a clear arguable opinion.

Here is my thesis:

In the beginning of the Scarlet Letter, the letter A represents Hester's sin of adultery, but Hester changes it through her good deeds and through her skillful artistry, turning it into a symbol of her own strength and independence, traits which isolate her from the Puritan community but also enable her to control her own punishment.
