My desktop shows a white strip in the middle of the screen. It doesn't go even when I change the wallpaper.

Looks like your monitor is defective. It maybe your video card but that's a long shot. Can you find another monitor to use as a test?

But the line shows only on desktop. If u open any other software window it, the line doesn't show.

Weird! Does it also happen if you simply choose no image for your Desktop? Select "None" as your Desktop and select a colour from the right hand side (I assume you have XP).

I run xp sp3

Tried but nothing:confused:

No desktop
Black color

but the strip doesn't show if explorer is closed
