Perhaps there is a better forum for this question, but here goes...

Husband died in 1997 at age 52. The widow was aged 46 at the time. Will the widow be eligible for Medicare and/or Social Security under HIS benefits? If yes, at what age will she become eligible? She has not remarried.

Thanks for the reply, Judy. We had looked at this page but were concerned that no mention was made of Medicare was made on the Social Security website. Any info that might be more specific to Medicare?

I'm sorry for the half answer. "You" have to be 65 to collect Medicare with certain exceptions, end stage kidney disease/a requirement for dialysis being the exceptions.

A person who retires "early" (age 62) still has to wait for age 65.
