How do I reset the hour meter on a panasonictv pt-40lc12.got a bulb from friend who gave me the TV but never reset the meter or the bulb.thanks for the help

Page 60 tells how to replace the lamp. This s a link to the manual for the bulb (Panasonic TY-LA1500 -- you can Google it if this link causes you problems.)

Here are the instructions (copied from the manual)
1. Be sure the power cord is plugged into a properly grounded wall outlet. Then, press the POWER button or the remote control to turn the power on.
2. While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the PIP button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds. (picture shown in the document).
3. When reset procedure is complete, the screen on the right will appear. (The picture of the screen says "LAMP TIME WAS RESET TO 0.")
