I hope I am in the right area for this question. 19 yrs ago I went to canada, I was there for exactly 1 yr. I had my son there, I am a U.S. Citizen, his father is Canadian. I have a Canadian BC for him a SS card and passport for my son. My question is -- is he a us citizen born abroad everyone I ask says he is but his dad says he is not

Because you are a U.S. citizen, your son is as well. I am a Canadian citizen, my son was born in the U.S. and is a Cdn. Citizen with dual privileges.

Your husband is incorrect.

Need to register the birth at the US consulate, with the form FS-240 Consular Report of birth abroad.

In every country, the child always obtain citizenship from the mother. In this case, your child has dual citizenship BUT you must register his birth at the US consulate in Canada.
