Okay, This pain is starting to get in
The way of me taking care of my child.
It hurts to sit, stand, or even lay down.
I wake up in the middle of the night crying.
The doctors have gave me pain meds,
But they aren't touching this pain,
It's not contractions, my son moving fine,
I'm 36 weeks. He has turned head down.
Could it be the way he laying? I just know
This is almost UNBARABLE
I just can't take it anymore,

Please help,
I will be induced on Nov 9th, 2009
Only 21 days left.

Can you pin down exactly what hurts? Your backbone? Your stomach? Your hips? Your groin?

From lower back down. Come
And go, but around my hips,
Legs, stomach.
Sorry about that.
I thought I covered everything

Could these be Braxton-Hicks contractions? They are like practice labor contractions, and they come and go. Are you ever pain-free?

Only in the shower,
It really never goes away,
If I move wrong I almost fall

When did this start? Recently? A while ago? Was it bad immediately when it started, or did it get bad gradually and sneak up on you?

And you still have a few weeks to go...

The baby might be pressing against some nerves in your low back. Are you near a city or large town? Check for a Reike practitioner. Reike might be your best bet, although it will cost $50 or so for a treatment. But it would be well worth it.

I'm about two and half hours away from a big city.

Most likely the baby is sitting on the sciatic nerve. This is actually quite common and there is very little you can do about it but just wait it out.

I feel for you... Im 28 weeks pregnant with my second child and I have pain in my lower back and buttox. Sometimes when I lie down for a long period and get up I almost fall to the ground because of the pain. I can't stay on my feet for to long and cleaning the house and taking care of my son almost seem impossible at times. I have been to the doctor they say it is the Siatic Nerve. They recommended pre natial massage and applying ice or heat to the are. Which ever is more sothing, also a warm bath in epsom salt helps. Anyway good luck to you hope my sudgestions helped. Hang in there 1 more month to go. I have 12 more weeks of it...

I am so sorry Brittany. I know a lot about back pain and this sounds really bad. I think your doctor needs to be aware of how much stress you are under. What kind of pain medication did they give you?

I strongly recommend some kind of stress management. Pain is stressful and stress is bad for both you and the baby. So, if you can use biofeedback, meditation, or some other method to sooth yourself, the pain will lessen.

Not sleeping and stress both make pain worse. So if you can break that cycle and start getting some rest, you may feel a bit better even if the ultimate cause is the baby pressing on a nerve as others have suggested.

It's tough when you are pregnant, because the doctors are rightly afraid to give you drugs they would normally give someone in this much pain.

Hang in there!

Do you have a social network? Friends or family who you can call? At the least, someone should come hold your hand and give you hugs. Even better if they can help you think about how to deal with this? It's hard to think and plan when you are in pain.

I have my boyfriends ex wife,
Strange story, but she has become my best friend, I just lost my job a week ago, and my boyfriend helps a lot with everything even with my 11 month old, but to me when I stress I clean it keeps me busy, when I lay down it hurts so much more, that's why I'm not resting like I most likely should,
But it will soon be over, and I will have a beautiful little boy here, maybe he will hurry.

Some fruit-flavored lollipops to suck on (for energy and dry mouth), a paper bag (lunch bag size, for hyperventilation prevention), lip balm, warm socks, small rolling pin (for back labor), picture or photo as a focal point (to concentrate on with strong contractions), wristwatch or some kind of clock with a second hand (to time contractions), laptop (for amusement), music CDs and player (for relaxation).

What people had to bring me,
But I pretty much got all that already packed
Thanks so much

Please don't take anything you can put in your mouth... lollipops included. The reason is that you have to keep your tummy empty, aside from ice chips, due to the possibility of 1) choking 2) cesarean section.

Sorry WG, but a wrist watch is no longer needed. The new fangled handy dandy fetal monitors do that for you. And... you can even WATCH your contractions, as well as the baby's heart rate, on the monitors!

What you need to take would be for AFTER the baby is born. We give you all you need during labor and delivery aside from maybe the photo/focal point WG suggested. We have special no-skid socks that most facilities require their patients to wear, since you will be considered high risk for falls/

Besides jammies for after delivery, bring a toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner (we don't have the best toothpaste or shampoo/conditioner), bathrobe, and clothes to go home. You may want to have some snacks handy in case you deliver at night and the hospital's cafeteria is closed and you are hungry.

Oh, don't forget your makeup so you can look pretty in pictures. LOL

Wow! Things have changed since 1975! And I ended up with a c-section. (In 1970, during a stop-and-start 12.5-hour labor, the nurses wouldn't let me get off the labor table and walk around because "you might have the baby.")
