I just began taking birth control and have been on it for about 2 and half weeks. I had unprotected sex but then about 48 hours later took Plan B. Could I still be pregnant?

I not sure I understand your question.

You started taking birth control, for two and half weeks, did you stop taking it?

You should be protected from pregnancy if you took the pill properly, did not vomit,or take antibiotics..

During this time did you take an added morning after pill?

My concern is the amount of hormones you have put into your body if it was not necessary, did you need a prescription for plan b?

Did you explain all this to your doctor?

I'm sorry for all the questions,I'm just trying to get a better picture.

No I was on it for for 2 and half weeks and had unprotected sex and was worried it was not active so I took plan b (morning after pill) just in case.

I did not vomit or have an severe side effects. I did not need a prescription for the plan b (morning after pill). I have continued to take my pill as normally though and I have not been to my doctor yet.

Sarah, please be careful when taking medicines.

Did your doctor explian when you would be protected by your pill?

There are different levels of hormones in different types of pills, but on the whole you would be covered in ten days of taking the pill every day, some suggest at the same time (the mini pill)..

Taking extra hormones to prevent pregnancy will delay or quicken the effect of your pill..

I'm sure someone will post with more information for you.

Normally at the end of the pack you will have a 7 day break, where most women bleed, some have break through bleeding before this..

There are other pills that you have to take without a break,to continue the cycle.

Was there an information leafet in the packet? I don't want to give you misleading information.

Can I ask what age you are?
And did your doctor explain any of this to you?

Just by the way,the pill does not prevent STD's/STI's.

I really think you should go back to the doctor.

I am 19 and yes my doctor said I would be protected but should use other types of birth control until after a month of being on the pill. The fact that I was only on it for 2 and half weeks worried me so I took the morning after pill.

I should be getting my period in a couple of days and that is when I will begin to take the "break pills".

I think he meant condoms!

Its impossible to say online if your pregnant or not...

However, it would seem the chances would be slim.

Wait until your break, see what happens, take it from there.

Its going to be quite stressfull if your going to be worried about pregnancy all the time,no contracption is 100 % effective.

Using condoms as well may help ease your worry.
