I resently bought a home with a duel Amana heat system using gas and electricy. We have been unable to get the system to put out any heat. I purchased gas today as the temp is supposed to drop from the 50's to the mid 30's by morning. We have no idea how to operate the system as no instructions were left with the unit. Can you help me?

While not the most complex system available I am going to make a suggestion to you to save you trouble and money. Contact a local HVAC professional who has knowledge of your system. Your first stage of heat is the heat pump and it should turn on when you select heat. When the tempersture drops to a lower level outside then the gas furnace will run. Since you have no idea about how this system works and if it is adjusted corectly a local service call will set everything strait so you know it is operating properly and while the service person is there they can explain how it works.
