We just recently moved to another state, taking our only cat with us. The house we moved into already had 2 other cats and a dog. My cat is adjusting surprisingly well with the other cats, going up to them and trying to get friendly, but the other cats just hiss and growl, and they even throw hits. My cat, however cannoth get used to the dog. The dog is a small dog, very hyper, and he is used to messing with the other cats, but my cat fights back every time the dog is near. Does anyone have any suggestions of how they can all settle down and get used to each other? It has been a month already, and we have seen no progress what so ever. Thank you!

Try getting a Feliway Comfort Zone plug in. It should be available at a veterinary or pet store.

This plug in is designed to comfort cats in stressful situations. They make one for dogs too!

Good luck!

Hi getting the animals to eat together is the best way of getting them useto each other, try sprinkling crunches that both cats and dog like on the floor, or bits of meat etc a few days of that and they will be trusting each other. Chris

Feeding dogs and cats in proximity isn't really a good idea.

I've seen many a cat seriously hurt or worse (dead) because an otherwise cat-friendly dog was jealously guarding his food.

Same with kids. I don't ever let my kids around our dogs when the dogs are eating even though the dogs are great with the kids.

I've had personal experience with this one as well...
