I have Federal Pacific baseboard heat. This summer, I did some wiring at my house and the guy who owned the house before did all kinds of crazy wiring things.

At the panel, there was some transformers and other things wired in, so I got rid of them.

It is cold now. Obviously I needed them.

Can I replace them (even with just dials on the heaters?) or do I have to get all new baseboards?

Thank You
Embarassed:)

With what little details you have provided I would suggest you check the heaters to see exactly what voltage they operate on. Some might 120 and some might be 240 volts. I am sure you could figure out some kind of control system to get them operating again who knows the cost of this approach.

If you replace with new then at least you will know what you are getting.

Note as you mentioned you could possibly add thermostats to the heaters you have there now. I suggest you do a wiring diagram of what you have now with the voltages supplied so you can buy the controls and then install them.
