I remember seeing a black and white sci-fi horror film that I'd like to check out again in a personally disturbing way because it really creeped me out. The premise of the movie was about a hole or pit in the ground in this rural, Texas-like town in which townspeople would get sucked into it and experimented on by some unknown beings, aliens I guess, and returned to their everyday role in a brainless, zombie-like fashion. Just really creepy stuff, they'd become quiet and neutralized by what had transpired and they had like a tracking device or beeper kind of thing on the back of their heads as a result. Some husband and wife with one child I think lived nearby the "pit" and were generally able to steer clear of it, although I remember the young boy becoming suspicious and the tipping point noticing his own father becoming victimized at the dinner table or something like that. I also remember them searching for help and going to the police station only to find out the local police had been overtaken as well! Eeek. Does this ring any bells to anyone cause I'd like to check it out again!
