How do I add a second zone to a trane xr 90 hot air gas furnace. The duct work is set up for 2 zones and the thermostat are already installed. I just need to know what to add to the furnace and how
Thanks

A zone damper for starters needs to be added. This will have to be designed to fit the duct for the second zone. Once that is done then you will have to decide what control system you want to use etc. Most of the time this is left to a ON SITE professional since it can be difficult to install the controls and motorized damper assembly.

The duct for the second zone is 8 inch round.. so I would think that would be a standard damper
What do you mean by control system? Isn't that on the furnace.
I really want to do this myself, I just lack the knowledge of knowing what I need

Well you never said you had a 8 inch duct so how would I know what you have. Yes you will need some form of control system for the 8 inch damper. I mean do you really think it is going to open close by itself and operate at just the perfect temperature you want without a relay to operate between the power damper motor and the thermostat you say is already installed. Besides you will also have to install control circuit wiring between all the items.
There is more to this than meets the eye. Here is a link to Honeywell. You can take some time and educate yourself so you do not make any mistakes. It is all explained here better than I could do.
