Hi,
I bought an MTD sit on Lawn mower "Maxim" without drive belt. So I found the partslist and found the partsnumber 754 0281. I went to the dealer and bougth the belt and tried to put it on the MTD. No lock it dit not fit it was to short. I went to an V belt deale and bought another belt and this one fits. But when push the clutch/brake pedal the jumps off. The original belt 754 0281 from MTD is 1122,31 mm but to short the second belt is 1174 mm its too long.
I messured the outside of the belt.
Maybe someone can tell me what belt I have to use or what size.

Hi,
First there are a few problems with your model number. It does tell me it is a lawn tractor because of the "13" part but the next digit or letter would tell the year. I have not ever heard of a "659" frame and sheet metal designation, but does not mean it does not exist. The "F" is a 38" deep deck. The "634" is not a vendor I have heard of; again there are so many.
The older Transmatic machine used a 754-0280 as the front belt and a 754-0281 as the rear belt. If the front one was replaced with one too short, the back one would not fit. If the rear idler is not put to the left of the belt, it will not fit. There is also a bolt that acts as the stay at the front of the transaxle when if missing will cause the belt to jump off in reverse or when braked hard.
Peace,
Clarke

Tnanks you for your answer Crigby. About the model number I can't tell anything its on the back of the mower under the seat. The bolt that prevent the belt to jump off is on its place and its like you wrote , when I push the brake the belt jumps off from the transmission pulley.
I didn't check the front belt so that's what I am going to do first.

Hi,
I looked at the front belt and it's partnumber A 7540630. (1343mm) Do you know if this is the correct belt. According my partlist it should be number 7540280 (53")

Hi,
I did not find that part number in either cross reference I commonly use, but I also did not find it listed as a substitute or replacement.
Main Belts Reference Listing (http://outdoorpowerinfo.com/belts/)
Is the belt reference I most often use.
Peace,
Clarke

Hi Clark,
I liked your reference listing. First I was wrong about partnumber
A 7540630 it was not good readable on the belt so I made for myself 7540630. But it really was 7540280. I thought the 8 was a 3 and the 2 was a 6. According the MTD helpdesk I needed the 7540370 and they where right. My MTD Maxim is running good now.
My mower needed parts 7540280 and 7540370.
Thanks to you Clark and Peace to you too.
Job is done! And a cake for you Clark
