Hello,
My husband pays child support for his 16 year old daughter and he also has to cover her under our insurance, both medical and dental. This is very expensive per week. We just found out that her mother (who has custody) has put her on Title 19 through the state and now she receives both our medical coverage and the state. Why does he have to cover her under our policy when this would make her double insured? She is pregnant, but that should not matter. According to her mother, she told them she was getting child support and our insurance does not cover pregnancy... which it does, because I called to make sure. What can I do to have this stopped?? We live in Iowa.

Thanks!

There may be nothing you can do. The problem is between Him and Her. Its not your problem. Once the baby is born then the state may cover the insurance for the mother ( his daughter ) as a separate policy and in that case he might be able to go to court to have it modified. She may even be emancipeted when the child is born. That's up to the laws of the state she is living in. In many cases it ends the child support obligation.

Not uncommon to be double covered as a child of devorced parents. This is legal. You could always go back to court and ask for a amendment.
