I know that a parent can voluntaryily relinquish their parental rights but can the other parents request an unvoluntary relinquishment of parental rights?

You know that? You know wrong. A parent cannot voluntarily relinquish parental rights UNLESS the other parent is remarried and their spouse is willing to adopt.

People can request anything they want. A court will only uphold what is best for the child. Having one parent is not in the best interest of a child.

You can detail your situation and we'd be happy to address specifics for you.

There is a sticky note at the top of this forum that discusses this issue. Had you read it, you would not have made a statement that you "know" something it is not true.

ONLY a court can terminate parental rights. A person cannot give up their rights unless requested by a court and generally that's only to clear the way for an adoption.

The custodial parent CAN petition a court for a TPR. But the court rarely grants them. The sticky note discusses that.
