Our comode empties fine most of the time but when water has been run in the tub it won't go down, even if it is only water. What is my problem?:

Describe what the toilet does. Does this happen when the tub's draining? Does the tub drain OK? Can you supply more details? Thanks, Tom

The tub drains fine. Sometimes the water level in the comode will rise as if no water is draining. It doesn't always come up high but it won't flush at all or it won't flush completely. It happens EVERY time the tub is used.

You have a partial clogged drain, you can snake it two ways, remove the toilet and snake from there or snake it from the roof vent, rod enough to reach from the roof to the basement floor plus 20 feet extra, good luck.

I should have said the lines have been snaked. We assumed clogs were the problem so it has been snaked. We even had the tank drained and they snaked back up the end of the line to make sure we were draining into the tank. We no longer have issues with the rest of the house just this one toilet. We also have added to 3 small vents under the house to make sure we are vented properly.

I tried to pay attention to what was going on with plumbing this weekend so I could better describe it. When the shower is in use pipes gurgle through out house. The only noticeable problem is that the comode beside shower won't flush for a while. Once some time has passed it usually gets better. Any idea what might be my problem?

Sounds like you night have more then just one problem.
Starting with the toilet. You have a partial blockage downstream from the toilet that's causing back pressure when the tub drains and the toilet gets flushed. This back pressure's preventing the bowl from siphoning when flushed. You say the lines have been snaked. I question that! Was the toilet pulled and the branch snaked? Did the plumber remove the trip lever assembly from the tub and snake from there?)see image) Either one should clear the toilet.

When the shower is in use pipes gurgle through out house.

A gurgle tells you that you have a blocked vent and the shower's attempting to vent through other fixtures traps. Were the roof vents snaked?
I think your plumber missed some spots that he should have snaked. Call him back to complete his work. Good luck, Tom
