I need help!! I was working for a company where the was a high shrink rate. They came in and investigated.I admitted to drinking a couple of drinks and forgot to pay.Later on that same day I paid for ten drinks.Three weeks later the came back and fired everyone. Now 2 months later their saying I owe them 900. They are trying to say I drank a drink everyday for 2 years.CAN they do this? And not only that they got a theft on my record. How can I clear all this up? I didn't find out about the theft on my record until I apllied for a job!!

You would not have a conviction on your record without goping to court and being found guilty. It doesn't work that way. They can not charge you for the drinks but they can sue you. They'd have a very hard time proving you personnally drank $900 worth of drinks. Ignore them and look into your criminal record, you should not have an arrest or a conviction unless that happened to you and you'd recall that, right?

I wasn't arrested or charged but its showing on my work historyas a theft. Can I get it removed?I have statements from ex-employees saying I brought my own drinks.Do you think I should consult an attorney?

Apparently you admitted to some level of theft by agreeing to pay for 10 drinks. I would consult an attorney but tell me excatly what you mean by your work history, is it the levl of background checking that does not go into criminal charges?

Apparently they CAN do this because they have. The question now is what can you do about it?
I'd consult with an Attorney - I am amazed that an accusation appears on your work record (whatever that is).
