View Full Version : Turn a dryer from 220v to 110v

Hy I need some help ,I live in house that has 110 v electricity the electric company does not have 220 v available here and I bougth a dryer but I do not have the other line so it can run ,how can I do to turn it so it can work with the only line available, tanks for the help

I am located in belisario dominguez chih. Mexico I live 30 milles away from the hiway I'm originally from el paso Texas

40 Amps at 220 ( a guess) is about 8.8 kW, so you would need a 10 KW or larger transformer, although not likely this one: VoltageConverters.com - 10,000 Watt Step Up / Down Transformer (http://www.voltageconverters.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=MS10G8).

Nonetheless, it gives you an idea of the cost.

Best bet, investigate getting a propane/LPG dryer and tank installed.
