Does anyone know a trucking company large or small that will hire me with a careless driving charge. I had a rear-end accident in July 09. Other than that, I am told everything else on my DAC is o.k, can you help? I am looking to drive teams with my wife who has a clean driving record.

Hi, fendeldan!
Of course, any possible employers in the driving field are going to scrutinize your driving record. Have you had any interviews? If so, what was said by you and also the interviewer concerning your driving record, please?
Thanks!

I explained the details of the accident, I was the second vehicle at the stop light. I was in the lane to keep straight through the light. The lane on my left was the turning lane. The light for them to turn released first and out of the corner of my eye I noticed cars moving and stupidly proceeded to take off. The light for cars keeping straight had not yet changed and therefore causing me to rear-end the car in front of me. I was ticketed at traveling less then 5mph. There were no injuries reported at the scene and aprox $700.00 in damages to my vehicle and less then $1000.00 in damages to the other vehicle. After a few weeks I got a copy of the police report and it said possible injuries. I assumed the driver in the front car later reported injuries.
I was told by one interviewer that the rear-end accident was coded as a commercial serious and that if there were injuries that made it worse. Most places are telling me that it would take about 3-5 years before I will be able to drive again. Can you help

Hi again, fendeldan!
The first thing that I would suggest doing would be to get documentation stating that there were no injuries, if there truly weren't any and see what happens in subsequent interviews.
But, it's probably true that you'll have to wait awhile before being hired to drive again. I mean, you can try, but the trucking industry has gotten really strict about who will be able to drive or not and about the requirements and conditions that must be met by drivers. The liability issues that the trucking companies face is enormous!
Hopefully, others will also come along to advise you about this.
I wish and hope for only the best for you and your spouse!
Thanks!
