How do you find an address from 30+ years ago that is needed to claim unclaimed property. I've credit history and background checks on myself but the addresses didn't go back far enough. Please help.

Also, why do you need an "address" to collect funds that is unclaimed? Where is it unclaimied from, bank, taxes. Since to be honest any unclaimed funds over 15 years normally can't be collected, and go to some other fund or the company merely gets to keep it.

Normally merely proving ID, is all you need to collect any real funds from accounts

They asked proof of me living at that address for which the claim was placed. And the money is from insurance

I have never heard of anything like that - usually it's by name, particularly when it's an insurance matter. Also, are you sure this isn't a scam? That's a very long time for the money to be held, waiting for you to claim it. By now in most States it would have been forfeited.

At any rate you've received some good suggestions on how to find proof of an address.

Just - please - make sure it's not a scam.

Personal note - when my husband died I got one of the "unclaimed funds" notices and it wanted his date of birth, address some years ago AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. Needless to say I forwarded the notice to the State Attorney's Office and never heard another word.

Yes, are you dealing with the actually insurance company, Not a third party, sorry I will agree, this smells of a scam, since insurance on property would have enough info and know where the property was. You would merely have to prove ID. And I agree, after 30 years they would not owe you the money any longer it would have gone to a state fund long ago
