My Belgain Malinois is 6 and a half years old and has been licking the floors in our home for a while now. I don't know if this is a boredom kind of thing or if she has some kind of vitamin defiecancy. She was rescued about 3 and a half years ago(one year before I got her)and from what we were told, she was very mistreated, so I don't know if it is maybe post tramatic syndrome. Any suggestions?? PLEASE She also started coughing and sneezing last night at 1:15AM and she is still doing it this evening, so could she be getting some kind of allergy from the carpet? Should I maybe try benadryl?

I heat vitamin deficiency been thrown around a lot, especially with dogs eating their own feces, it is a load of bull to be honest...

It sounds like your dog has either developed a strange habit or has some sort or neurological problem...

My mothers poodle licks and bites her feet... she will do it constantly and while she is doing it she appears to be in some sort of trance... she does not listen, it's almost like she can't hear you.

You could try putting something that tastes horrible on your floors...
Bitter sprays work well, you can get them from pet stores, just test a small area of your carpet to make sure it does not stain and then squirt it on the areas she licks most.

I always suggest contacting your vet before trying things like Benadryl... while it is safe for dogs we don't know your dog medical history.

Coughing/Sneezing can also be a symptoms of other ailments such as grass seeds up their nose, kennel cough or even heart murmurs (coughing)
