My hot water is coming out @ 130-135 and I need it cooler. I turned down the temp on the hot water heater (storage tank), this did not help even though it was turned to 90 it was still too hot. I had a plumber come over and he said I could pay $1300 to fix it right or I could lower the temp settings on my boiler. My question is if the temp settings were adjusted from 180 (hi) and 140 (low) down to 120 on each what will this do to the boiler? I have to imagine it is not good to to such a thing. Anyone have any thoughts on this? After a shower and about 3 hours the temp is down to 117, so it worked to lower the water temp but at what cost?

Have your plumber install a mixing valve such as this one: http://www.plumbersurplus.com/Prod/Watts-Series-1170-US-M2-Hot-Water-Temperature-Control-Valve-3-4-%280206013%29/26805/Cat/254?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=googlebase&cvsfa=63&cvsfe=2&cvsfp=26805

Then the boiler can operate where it wants to operate and te hot water can operate where it wants to operate and your both happy.
