Hello,

The 2002 Accord I bought last February has started to lose a lot of pep when accelerating, and often I have to force a downshift to get noticeable pickup.

The check engine light has not come on at all. The car has 105,000 miles on it and has an automatic transmission.

Advice appreciated.

. Replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil:

. Replace the platinum spark plugs (NGK only), if they have not been changed in the last 50,000 miles:

TxGreaseMonkey:
Thank you for the informative reply. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you - have been out of town and often too tired to do anything but work-related... well, work, on the PC.

What's a ballpark guess on the cost of the ICM and coil, would you say?

At AutoZone, the ICM is $69.99 and the coil is $79.99.
