How do you cap off a faucet spray hose so that the sprayer doesn't spray?

Hi Mary...

For most faucets you will need to climb under the sink and remove the spray hose and cap or plug the connection.

You would remove the hose and then take that to home depot and pick up some pipe dope (see image) and a cap or plug of the appropriate size. Apply some pipe dope to the threads underneath or to the plug and screw it in pretty tight.

If your faucet has a slip on fitting (no threads present underneath) for the hose connection it gets a bit more complicated to isolate this. If this is the case, and your hose doesn't have a threaded connection underneath let us know... name on faucet would be good, too!
